Sara and Joe met in Chicago before quickly setting their sights on their first adventure together: moving to Colorado. They spent a decade on the Front Range, bouncing between Denver and Boulder. Sara is a recovering attorney who has spent 15 years leading complex projects and large teams across public sector and government organizations. Joe spent the last decade in go-to-market roles in the aerospace industry. Feeling a constant tug toward the mountains—and frequently daydreaming about mountain-town life—they built a house and moved to Salida with their two young children in 2023.
Salida immediately felt like home and inspired them to become more deeply rooted in the community. Liberty Hall presented an opportunity to do just that: create a welcoming, inspiring place to gather with old and new friends, make memories, and enjoy deliciously crafted cocktails in Salida’s Two Rivers area. In late 2023 Sara and Joe, along with their partners Thomas and Emmie Hayes, started Liberty Hall, which eventually opened in April 2025. It has been an absolute pleasure serving and getting to know such an amazing community. This year, Sara founded and is launching a premium canned cocktail business that packs unexpected ingredients into a can with a removable lid - perfect for places where glass doesn't belong.
They are happiest splashing in the river with their kids, trail running, biking, skiing, running into friends around town, wandering Saturday morning farmers markets, and squeezing in rushed rounds of putt-putt with his family at Rocky Mountain Clubhouse. And, of course, testing new cocktails and serving drinks to the local community.
